Enclosed Cargo Carrier Protects 29er Bicycles on the Hitch

As bicycle sizes and styles evolve, Let's Go Aero adapts. Since the introduction of our first cargo carrier large enough for two bikes in 1999, moutain bikes have gotten larger with the popularity of the 29er. 29ers or two-niners are mountain bikes and hybrid bikes that are built to use 700c or 622 mm ISO (inside rim diameter) wheels, commonly called 29" wheels. Most mountain bikes use ISO 559 mm wheels, commonly called 26" wheels. The ISO 622 mm wheel is typically also used for road-racing, trekking, cyclo-cross, touring and hybrid bicycles.
These high end bicycles are screaming for protection from weather, bugs, and road grime during travel, and theft when parked (according to one customer, "cable locks don't cut it because they just cut the cable"). So when the Jenkins family headed to Montana for the Missoula XC junior mountain bike race event on Marshall Mountain in June 2015, they came equipped with the BlackBox Enclosed Cargo Carrier to protect their bikes from another potential disappearance.
Shown are three 29ers, two are medium and one large (Specialized and Niner brands) for Nick and Nolan, dedicated junior mountain bike racers (Nick was 2013 Junior National Champion in Short Track, and congratulations to Nolan who won the junior short cross event at the Missoula XC ).
The BlackBox measures 72in x 32in x 39in high inside for fit with front wheel removed. The 28in wide handle bars fit with time taken to custom fit inside the storage box according to gear logistics; once installed, the fit is set in place for quick pack up and go.
We often encounter requests for four bike enclosure, as avid cyclists typically like to carry two style bicycles such as a road and a mountain bicycle. Let's Go Aero will release a four-bike mount hardware kit shortly with a configuration that provides the most interior load capacity possible for just that. Stay tuned for more blogging on this topic.
